Dawson Phases III & IV Gas Processing Facility

Sour Oil and Gas Projects, Amine Sweetening, Acid Gas Injection

Dawson III & IV Gas Processing Facility produces 180 MMscf/day natural gas and is designed for an H2S inlet level of 0.7%, delivering saleable gas to spec through amine sweetening and acid gas injection. The amine package produces a water saturated sweet gas which is then sent to the refrigeration plant for hydrocarbon dew point control and water removal. An H2S analyzer downstream of the amine plant monitors the H2S content of the gas leaving the amine plant, and two additional analyzers are located on the sales gas lines. The acid gas produced by the amine plant is directed to the acid gas compressor, after which it is injected into an on-site acid gas injection well. All acid gas piping is stainless steel. An acid gas flare system is also included with the high pressure and low pressure flare stack.

Project Outcomes

The design of this gas processing facility included the means of sweetening acid gas and disposing of it safely. All acid gas piping and processes were designed for a higher than estimated sour content to ensure safety and to make concessions for any future wells to come onstream which may have a higher sour content.
